From the non-existence to the existence of African philosophy. Reflection from Benoît Okolo Okonda
Keywords:
Existence, non-existence, African philosophy, Reflection and AfricaAbstract
This study first situates Benoît Okolo Okonda’s work Hegel and Africa in relation to the problematic of African philosophy, then criticizes Hegel through a second reflection on his thought according to which the African is devoid of reasoning, unable to take charge of himself and build his society without the contribution of others (Europeans). Finally, it promotes African culture and affirms the existence of a purely African philosophy. Instead of organizing, the African insists on destruction and vandalism. Hegel’s critics indicate to African philosophy the need to go back to its ancient past, to dialogue with itself, and to become better aware of itself. On this condition, it is possible to affirm the existence and emergence of an African philosophy.
